Key terms at a glance

This is a plain-English summary for convenience only. Our Terms of Use and, if we work together, our written agreement are what govern, and they prevail over this summary.

Topic Summary
What Legacy Data does Legacy Data introduces companies to AI training-data buyers and coordinates the deal process. We work with a company as an introducer and process coordinator only under our written agreement, signed by both sides. We never act as anyone's agent or representative. Using the site, submitting a form or holding a call creates no engagement.
Who pays fees Sellers pay us no fee. We, or our principal, are paid only by buyers, through referral or other fees. We take no share of the amount paid to you. There is no fee for using the site.
When fees are disclosed We disclose in writing how any buyer-side fee is calculated before you sign our agreement, and its amount, once known, before you sign with a buyer. For bankruptcy estates and other court-supervised sales, fees are also disclosed in court filings as required. Where our role needs court approval, nothing proceeds until it is given. If we cannot tell you the amount in time, you can decline that buyer.
Exclusivity All fees, non-circumvention terms and exclusivity are set only in our written agreement. You approve the buyer, the use, the term and whether any licence is exclusive before a deal goes ahead. Some buyers only purchase outright or require exclusivity, and we tell you which before you sign anything with a buyer.
Non-circumvention and tail period Any non-circumvention terms and any tail period (a period after our agreement ends during which a fee can still be due on a buyer we introduced) are set only in our written agreement and explained to you before you sign.
De-identification responsibility Before any records reach a buyer, a de-identification vendor engaged by the company (or the estate) removes or de-identifies personal data, including names, contact details and credentials. Every de-identification vendor and buyer is named to you in writing before any transfer. Records that cannot be adequately de-identified are not licensed. No method removes every risk of re-identification. Legacy Data does not de-identify records itself and never receives them.
What we never do We never take custody of company data. We never ask you to send files, export links, passwords or payment to us. Any samples go, once de-identified, from your de-identification vendor directly to a buyer you have approved, never to us. Health records, children's data, HR, payroll and compensation records, credentials, client-held material and privileged material are never offered. We do not guarantee any buyer, price, timing or payment. We are not a law firm, broker-dealer, investment adviser or tax adviser.
